We are excited to announce our upcoming virtual healing workshops! We will have two sessions, the first will be focused on identity and healing prayer, held on Wednesday, August 28th at 8pm ET. The second will focus on trauma and healing prayer, held on Wednesday, September 4th at 8pm ET. To help you prepare for these sessions we have provided a Lectio Divina guided reflections based on the hemorrhaging woman in Matthew’s Gospel and we have included some resources that might be helpful.
Lectio Divina
Lectio Divina (aka “divine reading”) is a traditional Church approach to praying with scripture in a personal way. There are a number of different ways to pray Lectio Divina, and we encourage you to try different methods to find out what works best for you. This week, we invite you to reflect on Scripture and welcome the Holy Spirit to be your guide as the Word of God speaks to your heart.
Step 1: opening prayer
Holy Spirit, be with me. Guide me through these words of sacred Scripture. Open my eyes and heart to the Word and welcome Jesus into my heart today.
Step 2: read the Gospel passage
If possible, do so out loud. If your spouse or a friend is with you, you might choose to read it aloud together.
Matthew 9:20-22 (Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition)
And behold, a woman who had suffered from a hemorrhage for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment; for she said to herself, “If I only touch his garment, I shall be made well.” Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well.
Step 3: guided reflection
Read through the passage again, this time silently. Does a particular word, phrase or sentence resonate with you? Did something surprise you? Sit and reflect on that verse and what it might mean for you.
Read the passage again quietly. Be mindful of what God may be speaking to you through this passage. How will you respond to God’s invitation to prayer or action?
Be still and rest in the embrace of our loving God.
Step 4: closing prayer
Close with a prayer from your heart, thanking God for this time together.
Please make plans to attend the first healing session on Wednesday, August 28th at 8pm ET. An email will be sent out to all of our email subscribers with login information before the event. We also recommend that you work through these resources to prepare your heart: Wielding the Sword of the Spirit: Fighting Satan's Lies with Scripture and Mothers’ Day Challenge: Truth, beauty, and goodness.
