As we reflect on the Feast of the Transfiguration this week, let us remember the ways that we hope to be transformed. To remember our suffering ends with God’s loving resurrection of our broken souls and bodies. To know that we are not called to know every detail of God’s plan for us, but to let our lives be forever changed by our constant “yes” to His love and will.

Reflection on the Litany of the Transfiguration by Fr. Peter John Cameron, O.P

When I am tempted to look only at my faults, Let me see only Jesus.

Love, it feels like my world revolves around my failures. The way my body has failed me and my loved ones.

When troubled by the specter of doubt and defeat, Let me see only Jesus.

The appointments seem endless, Lord. How many shots and tests? What purpose is there to this relentless barrage on my body?

When I can't see beyond the frustrations of the moment, Let me see only Jesus.

I offer these tears to you, Lord: the waiting, the “what-ifs”.

When the horizon seems distant and dark, Let me see only Jesus.

I offer my heart to Love Itself. Willing it to be healed and molded by You.

When I can't see the point of pursuing what's good, Let me see only Jesus.

Transform my shaking soul with determination, that I may know my scars show a story of love and faithfulness.

When complaining and cynicism invade my peace, Let me see only Jesus.

Infertility is overwhelming, but let hope sit with the sorrow.

When I can't face my problems, Let me see only Jesus.

Lord, You show me your transformed but always present wounds, so I know You have sat through every pain with me.

When the world looks bleak, Let me see only Jesus.

Your gentle gaze reminds me that joy comes out of pain and that tears of sorrow become tears of mirth.

When others measure and judge me, Let me see only Jesus.

You alone know my heart. You alone know the guilt, the pain and the uncertainty.

When beset by depression, Let me see only Jesus.

You sit with me in the grief. Not to negate it, but to hold me until I can feel your love again.

When friendship is far from me, Let me see only Jesus.

Love, let me know your companionship so that I might allow myself to see you in others.

When overshadowed by sorrow, Let me see only Jesus.

Chase the shadows away so that only Your light surrounds me.

When I fail to use my freedom, Let me see only Jesus.

Transform the chains around my heart into rays of Your love.

When it's hard to forgive, Let me see only Jesus.

Transform my bitterness into mercy.

When things don't make sense, Let me see only Jesus.

Transform my doubt into trust.

When I think I can't change, Let me see only Jesus.

Transform the way I see myself.

When confronted by suffering, Let me see only Jesus.

Transform my suffering heart into a serving one.

When stress gets me down, Let me see only Jesus.

I lay everything at Your crucified feet.

When it's hard to go on, Let me see only Jesus.

May your transfigured, resurrected body hold my weary one. May I lean on it along the path to heaven.

When blinded by sin, Let me see only Jesus.

Transform an entitled, wounded, desperate heart to one that follows Love’s will.

When the hardness of life overwhelms me, Let me see only Jesus.

Let me see you in the testing, in the tears, in the times when everything else is crushing.

When hope begins to fade, Let me see only Jesus.

Love, You are my hope. Transform me into someone who knows that I am loved by Love Itself.

Our Father…

Closing prayer: Loving Father, thank you for allowing me to witness the vision of your Son transfigured on Mount Tabor. May I become what I behold so that my life will radiate the glory and grace that remain your priceless gifts to me in Jesus. Amen.

Know we are praying for you.
