January virtual rosary: Holy Name of Jesus

Updated: Jan 31

The first of our 2024 virtual gatherings for the Fruitful Hollow community is a group rosary meditating on the Holy Name of Jesus on Wednesday 31st January, 8.30pm ET/7.30pm CT/5.30pm PT. You can join us live using this link. If you are not able to attend the virtual event, you may still wish to unite your prayers with those of this community by following the prayers in your own prayer time. January is dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus. As a community, we are praying together the first day of the novena of the Holy Name of Jesus and the Glorious Mysteries of the rosary. Join us with the following prayers and reflections.

Novena in honor of the Holy Name of Jesus

O Merciful Jesus, Who didst in Thy early infancy commence Thy office of Savior by shedding Thy Precious Blood, and assuming for us that name which is above all names; we thank Thee for such early proofs of Thine infinite love. We venerate Thy sacred name, in union with the profound respect of the Angel who first announced it to the earth, and unite our affections to the sentiments of tender devotion which the adorable name of Jesus has in all ages enkindled in the hearts of Thy saints.

Animated with a firm faith in Thy unerring word, and penetrated with confidence in Thy mercy, we now most humbly remind Thee of the promise Thou hast made, that where two or three should assemble in Thy name, Thou Thyself wouldst be in the midst of them. Come, then, into the midst of us, most amiable Jesus, for it is in Thy sacred name we are here assembled; come into our hearts, that we may be governed by Thy holy spirit; mercifully grant us, through that adorable name, which is the joy of Heaven, the terror of Hell, the consolation of the afflicted, and the solid ground of our unlimited confidence, all the petitions we make in this novena.

Oh! blessed Mother of our Redeemer! Who didst participate so sensibly in the sufferings of thy dear Son when He shed His Sacred Blood and assumed for us the name of Jesus, obtain for us,through that adorable name, the favors we petition in this novena. Beg also, that the most ardent love may imprint on our hearts that sacred name, that it may be always in our minds and frequently on our lips; that it may be our defense and our refuge in the temptations and trials of life, and our consolation and support in the hour of death. Amen.

The Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

First Glorious Mystery: The Resurrection

For the gift of faith

Jesus, strengthen our will and commitment to follow You, especially when all hope seems lost.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.

(Repeat the Hail Mary 10 times)

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of Thy mercy.

Second Glorious Mystery: The Ascension

For the desire for Heaven

Jesus, lead us to Heaven and to our union with You. Help us lead each other on Your path.

Third Glorious Mystery: The Descent of the Holy Spirit

For the gift of wisdom

Jesus, grant us wisdom, fortitude and right judgment as we continue on our infertility journey.

Amen.

Fourth Glorious Mystery: The Assumption

For our devotion to Mary

Jesus, help us to follow in the footsteps of Mary, Your beloved mother. Lead us to our own fiat, our yes to God’s plan for our lives.

Fifth Glorious Mystery: The Coronation of Our Lady as Queen of Heaven

For eternal happiness

Jesus, we long to be joined to You in paradise. Lead us away from the desires of this world and direct us toward You in eternity.

Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile show us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

V.  Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.

R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

O God, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal salvation, grant, we beseech thee, that while meditating on these mysteries of the most holy rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, that we may both imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Thank you for joining our January community rosary in honor of the Holy Name of Jesus. Please know that we are praying for you. Remember: Jesus hears you, He believes in you, and He is working within you right now!
