Letters of Encouragement: Daughter of the Most High

Daughter of the Most High,

I hope this blog post brings the peace of Christ upon you in the midst of the Christmas season! We know that this season can be hard for many; especially for those who carry the cross of infertility. The weight of the “excitement” and social gatherings can become overwhelming. This is the time of year everyone is focused on setting and evaluating our goals and dreams for the coming year. We are prompted to make decisions - lots of decisions. Commercials and advertisements encourage us to “become better” or “do something different”.

If you’re feeling weary as we approach the New Year, you’ve come to the right place. In this bustling time, we would like to encourage and remind you to “Selah” (if you don’t know what this word means, keep reading). You are enough; you are the daughter of the Most High. You are the Princess of the King!

Sister, in these last few days of 2022, let us find encouragement and ground ourselves in some truth. Let us take a look at Psalm 46; you may notice the word “Selah”. “Selah” is a Hebrew word that is a musical mark or instruction that means “stop and listen”. Each time you come across that word, we encourage you to do the same. What is The Holy Spirit telling you?

God is our fortress

Psalm 46

God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; Though its waters roar and foam, Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. Selah.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, The holy dwelling places of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. The nations made an uproar, the kingdoms tottered; He raised His voice, the earth melted. The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah.

Come, behold the works of the LORD, Who has wrought desolations in the earth. He makes wars to cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariots with fire. "Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah.

This week we invite you to pick one or two of the verses you read from above and reflect on. Taking a cue from Our Mother, we invite you to keep all these things and ponder them in your heart (Luke 2:19). Write them on a sticky note and put it somewhere for you to read each day. Remind yourself that God is your strength. God is very present (even when you can’t feel Him). God is in your midst. God is your stronghold.

Selah. God is with you.
